She wears her school uniform differently from the rest of the school and wears a red armband, even before she joins the school's student council, and leg warmers. Because of her distinctive fashion sense and her aloof demeanor, she has a reputation for being "Cool and Spicy" at her school. However, Amu is embarrassed by her reputation and feels like she isn't showing her true self. Her aloofness is a result of not knowing how to interact with people. She is also physically quite clumsy though her peers aren't aware of this limitation. Amu wishes she can be brave enough to show her true self and gets her wish when she meets her Charas: Ran, Miki, and Suu. Each of them represent a part of Amu's inner self and by Chara changing with them, Amu can gain special skills that she can't do normally. Although Amu is quite insecure with herself, she is persistent and empathetic. She is very good at helping others come to terms with themselves. She is also unique in that she has three Charas whereas the Guardians only have one. For these reasons, she becomes a strong ally for the Guardians and the strongest force against the Easter Company. She has a crush on Hotori Tadase, but as the story goes on, her love life gets more complicated as she ends up attracting quite a few male admirers. Although she frequently exchanges verbal barbs with Ikuto, she also develops an attraction to the cat boy. She is voiced by Itou_Kanae. She is played by Maeda Yuuka in the musical.
