We've just broken 1 million page views yesterday! I'm kinda excited about this milestone as we've been hovering around 970K for some time now.

So, how about some stats perhaps for reaching this goal?
- 60% of our traffic is direct.

- 20% of our traffic are new users. Of those, 50% stay.

- loli is our most popular tag with 57,883 page views the past 30 days.

- ~109,000 searches are performed daily.

- Past 30 days we've had 297,805 unique visitors and over 26 million page views.

- The top 3 referring sites are rh.greydawn.net, dannychoo.com and pinochan.net. So check them out, since they've sent us tons of traffic. I in particular like dannychoo's site.

So yeah, thank you all for getting us this far. Some time this month I will be heading down to Chicago to upgrade the server (and Danbooru's) and hopefully we'll be able to get this site more responsive than it has been.

We have reached two million page views April 19th! This is pretty awesome. I have not expected to ever reach this level of popularity. Thanks to all of you continuing to visit the site and contributing. Stats for this update:

- 53.65% of our traffic is direct.

- 40% of our traffic are new users. Of those, 54% stay.

- loli is our most popular tag with 67,063 page views the past 30 days.

- ~213,000 searches are performed daily.

- Past 30 days we've had 603,074 unique visitors and over 49 million page views.

- The top 3 referring sites are rh.greydawn.net, dannychoo.com and pinochan.net. As before, give them a look.

Over the summer we should start getting some of those tracker tickets closed and features added. I will be going down to Chicago again, possibly sometime this month or in May to switch out our current case with one that can handle twenty hot-swappable hard drives. Yes "20". :)

"loli is our most popular tag"

Again/Still? I won't be a hater just because others use this place differently than myself, but I feel that being the lead reason the majority comes here kind of sucks.

On another note twenty drives? Is that really necessary? I have no idea how the technical side of things work but those quotation marks you use sure make it seem extraordinary.

Loli being the most popular doesn't surprise me. I think it's mostly because it's hard to find it. Can't say for sure, since I generally don't go looking for it.

Grats on 2 million though! I checked all 3 sites out, they're pretty interesting.

Loli being the most popular isn't really surprising. To my knowledge this is the only booru with an extensive loli collection. Besides, Anonymaid, you make that sound like a Bad Thing. Run a search on only "loli", or maybe "loli rating:safe" and you'll see a great deal of it isn't sexual content at all (I know you don't like that stuff). A lot of the characters from traditional anime are young girls, and that's reflected in our database, here.

And, yes ... congratulations on 2 megaviews!

The thing is, Danbooru, the largest *booru site available, disallows the viewing of loli images to users who don't pay a 20 dollar one-time fee. As a result, many Danbooru users like to come here if they want to look at it, since that's the only thing they can't see on their site. A lot of people use Gelbooru as an alternative to viewing images that can't normally be seen on Danbooru.

If Danbooru ever goes down like two years ago, I wouldn't be suprised if Gelbooru's traffic and image collection exponentially increased.

The image collection wouldn't exponentially increase since danbooru bot keeps gelbooru up to date, and if danbooru was gone there is no guarantee they would move over here. Also I wouldn't want to see danbooru close. This is since though they have some nice people over there they have a lot of trolls especially among their staff, top guys, and most active regulars.

ah, I wasn't aware of that. Makes sense why it remains number one.

Is there a gelbooru bot or is the stuff uploaded by users here 'exclusive' until the same or some other person adds them to danbooru?

Danbooru is the original booru. They closed; we opened. A few months later they reopened. We asked for permission to have a script grab files every so often, rq said fine to every 8 minutes. We do syncs every 30 minutes as a result.

If you guys frequently sync together, how come the images transferred here don't have anywhere near as many tags as the originals? I often compare images hosted both here and Danbooru, and I almost always notice that their versions have more tags than ours.
