If a Korean born Japanese citizen drew, would it count as non-Japanese anyway?

Everytime I get into a conversation about the rule with one of my friends, this is usually a question they use to troll me.

I'd like to see Korean/Chinese/Thai artists at the very least allowed myself. It's Lozers decision though, and he still doesn't seem very likely to change his mind. I'd know, I've been bothering him about it~

I'd still like him to make some kind of concession though. Shadowblade is bringing up some, quite frankly, fantastic artists that we have to get rid of. The artists he's posting don't strike me as the type of artist who the rule was made to get rid of.

As noted from the image restoration thread, a user brought up the banishment of other East Asian artists. I'm reposting here.

Someone mentioned some specific banned artists that are from China and Taiwan... (That or are Chinese and/or Taiwanese by ethnicity. Does our Japanese only policy apply to citizenship or ethnicity? There's quite a few Chinese and Korean enclaves living among the master race.

If a Korean born Japanese citizen drew, would it count as non-Japanese anyway?

If you have to put that much thought into an image, do not upload it. I have no idea why you're making this more complicated than it needs to be.

You've made it more complicated than I ever could actually.

Its probably the consequence of making the rule. I don't really care that much. I don't have any images by Sino artists as far as I'm aware.

This isn't something I think about when uploading images. These are things that come up later on when people point fingers at how that "Jap from Hong Kong" isn't really part of the master race. Or how the black man born and raised in Japan with a Japanese name, couldn't be possibly be Japanese.

In my head, it's like this:

If you can prove the artist is a Japanese citizen in some way, I believe it's perfectly fine, it doesn't matter what race they are.

Does that go vice-versa for people who used to be Japanese, but defected to another country? I don't know, and I'd probably tell the person asking to shut up for arguing that far over semantics about the rule.

If they're a citizen of another country, but just so happened to draw that image while on Japanese soil for some stupid reason, not allowed.

Lozer's the only one who can give you a definitive answer, and his response to you asking for an answer to that was already "nope" by the looks of it.

Okay I see. I caused a clusterfuck afterall.

Excuse my arrogance from before against loser. I didn't intend to be so. I'll survive with or without foreign artists. I'm just a Gelbooru user who obsessed with all imagery; anime or not, Japanese or not.

Thank you for your responses in particular lovemachine. The idea of proving someones Japanese citizenship to be allowed on a baka-gaijin site just made me lol.

"We'll need to see your drivers license and birth certificate for proof of identity sir."

And I probably would if I could . Gelbooru rules are serious business.

YEAH MATE YOU BETTER BE SORRY

Nah. You're at least being constructive and trying to think up a prettier alternative to the rule, instead of screaming "FUCK YOU GELBOORU THE RULE SUCKS CHANGE IT" like half the other people who post in this thread do. It's nice to see someone who isn't cruising for a banning agree with me.

I like to believe there's a reason for that.

Even though I have already voiced that I think about this whole deal, namely the fact I do not approve this process if it means losing some really good artists for something as asinine as topically and such, I'd like to point out what I believe is the rule's fatal flaw: It doesn't really prevent users from reuploading deleted artworks as many times as they please, thus making this entire witchhunt a colossal waste of time and effort.

Now why it took so long for someone to notice this is beyond me. Or perhaps there's nothing that can actually be done about it?

Take a page from Danbooru's book and start pre-moderating images.

I don't think the current staff would take too kindly to that if it were solely for the reason of getting rid of artists, though.

Actually I don't think they'd take too kindly to it at all!
