Ala D-boru:
Character: gold (pokemon)
This tag may refer to...
* [Male] player character in Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal
o Male player character in HeartGold/SoulSilver as Hibiki
* Protagonist in Pocket Monsters SPECIAL
Known as Gold (G/S/C) and Ethan (HG/SS) in English versions.
For the anime character, see Kenta.
D-boru also aliased "Hibiki" to "Gold", so again, it's Nya changing things to the tag Danbooru uses. Apparently it's both the same character, so what's the problem?
It's a common misconception, when Pokemon Gold and Silver were released the main characters weren't given an official name so people picked the first Optional Name of the list as their names (in the case of Hibiki "Gold" and in the case of Silver "Rival"). Red and Green weren't given an official name too until the release of Gold and Silver (because they became NPC characters).
I would ignore the issue if there wasn't so many Hibiki/Gold pictures, but there are actually a lot (almost 1000) so I believe a tag split between the Game character and Pokemon Special character would be useful the same way we have different tags for "Leaf_(pokemon)" (game name of female Player character of Generation I-III who have +400 pictures on the site) and "Blue_(pokemon)" (manga name of female Player character of Generation I-III who have +600 pictures on the site).
On a side note, in japan the game character is only know as Hibiki (ヒビキ) . Plenty pictures from Pixiv that had been tagged as "Gold" here in Gelbooru have in Pixiv the tag "Hibiki" and in the case of comics based on the games the name "Hibiki" (ヒビキ) is used so the "gold" tag may confuse people. Example:
gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=1183916 gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=998919 gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=807704 gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=963490 gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=952018Also, that's how tagging in Bulbapedia (where you got the example) works, for example if you search Red in Bulbapedia too, you will all his counterparts:
For the protagonist of the aforementioned games, see Red (game)
For the anime counterpart of Red, see Ash Ketchum
For the Pokémon Adventures manga character, see Red (Adventures)
For the Pokémon Pocket Monsters manga character, see Isamu Akai
For the Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire manga character, see Red (Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire)
Another curious search is Silver:
For the rival in the above games, see Silver (game)
For the Pokémon Adventures character, see Silver (Adventures)
For the Golden Boys character, see Black (Golden Boys)
For the character of the day from The Search for the Legend, see Silver (anime)
For the baby Lugia who appeared in the anime, see Silver (Johto)
For the Pokémon Pocket Monsters manga character, see Silver (Pocket Monsters)
Bulbapedia even counts fan-names:
Soul - For the female player character of HeartGold and SoulSilver who was given the fan name "Soul", see Lyra (game)
Try tipping the official name Hibiki and you will be directly redirected to the article.
(On a side note, I saw someone mentioning Silver tags should be renamed to Rival :| I hope that isn't a bad signal).
