If the stuff has been deleted, I see no problem with them removing all the tags. Since it was deleted, you're not SUPPOSED to be able to see it anymore. And the tags are useless after the search cache gets reloaded, since deleted images don't show up at all in tag searches.

Then I guess it's useful in a way to remove the tags just because of that.

and I should'nt be saying this since I mispell stuff sometimes along with typo's but I think it'll be more fitting if the not was in all caps instead of the word supposed.

People will understand the message though.

Except the word "supposed" was the one I was emphasizing, and on purpose. Capitalizing "not" would subtly change the meaning of my sentence to one that wasn't quite what I meant.

Still at it.

post #1221492 seems to be the one he has a problem with.

Deleted posts are usually not gone altogether; there are several levels of delete available to the site staff.

1. The post no longer shows up on tag searches, but the image and post metadata are preserved and publicly available.

2. Original image is deleted as well.

3. The post page is completely deleted, or not publicly accessible; example post #3 .

People can arrive at deleted posts via IQDB searches and direct links to the post. The tags can provide useful information to people arriving there via IQDB, such as the artist or character names. For people arriving via direct links, the tags are the most convenient way to know what was there, since the inline image is gone. If the site staff want to remove the original image link, or delete the post page altogether, they are already able to do that.

So, in other words, I still see it as vandalism.

Um, The username is 'whiteout', and has (as of 18:35 central) over 27,000 edits. I smell a bot. A bot that can deliberately wait 31 seconds between posts, without sleep, for almost 10 days straight. (Joined 07/13/11) It has done nothing else since it joined.

If you think that is vandalism... wait until you find out that Whiteout removes the tags of all images that have been removed by any of those three means you posted.

Therefore rendering them useless to people who actually find their left behind debris pages.

And Jedi just beat me to it damnit.

Ignore me. It still seams like a bot but at looking closer at it's history it seams to have been stopped four days ago. It may not be a problem any more.

On a good note: The tag counters might become more accurate now.

On a bad note: Edit: Removed some stuff so as to not give users a bad idea.

Edit: I completely misread that shit...

I guess I don't see a problem with people downloading deleted images... what would the problem be if there was one? The fact that Lozer is still paying to keep all those damn pages of deleted images up? He can just terminate them eventually right? I don't know what the fuck I'm saying anymore.

Useless? No, that's not really true. When searching for a source for specific images, when all other options are lost you will sometimes be able to find the info you are looking for on deleted images. However when people go around removing the tags of said deleted images it takes even longer... sometimes the "history" seems to be removed as well so you wont even be able to find the info you are looking for there either.

As for tag vandalism... yeah, that's what mass deleting the tags for these images is. These people aren't helping Gelbooru at all since deleting the tags don't make it any better. Actually, say you run a bot... changing tags every 31 seconds steals a load of bandwidth... Perhaps this "Whiteout" bot was made to target deleted images in hopes that nobody would notice? Slowly stealing bandwidth from Lozer every day to make life hard for him?
