just an idea (using the booru system for a game!?)

I know just an idea so don't hit me even if it goes into another direction...

I just managed after a couple of months of fighting with my pre-release of the Spore-Demo, which I play very occasionally, to upload some monsters to it's reservoir called the "Sporepedia". And what I noticed was - it sucked - it sucks in every way, the servers are slow, the interface is horrible and at long last even the rating system sucks. But then I thought of a certain website I happen to know which one is called gelbooru.com.

So wouldn't it theoretically possible to found a Sporepedia alternative? I calculated that if each creature doesn't exceed 30kb a pic, which seems to be the size limit for the Sporepedia, all would fit on one 400GB harddrive, if it were just a fifth of the content the original Sporepedia has. Ok that wouldn't still work for a server but just comment the idea....

Sry to post this here but I can just ask people who know the (dan/gel...booru) for some time.

Yes, it would appear to be very possible.

Hmmm, so I guess the idea wouldn't be that false...

By how many harddrives is gelbooru actually supported?

We are only using one drive at the moment for code and one for images. Gelbooru can run on as many drives as you could toss at it, and sync to.

Perhaps you could use our gelbooru code and start up your own, alternate Sporepedia, 'booru style site. I'm sure it would pick up a bit of popularity. :)

I'll keep on track of that, I think the idea deserves some investigation...I'm going to look out if I might find a good server standpoint

The 'booru system at a basis would be perfect!;P
