Replacing the battery is your best bet. As to the game card, that is odd. Why it would be related to the battery is beyond me. If you have warranty on it still, I would recommend you have them give you the shipping to send it back to them. If you modified your console, your only solution would be to replace your battery yourself and go from there.

@ #666

Rechargeable batteries lose capacity over time. Especially if you don't use your device for a while and let it discharge itself quite a bit (extremely deep discharging may even kill the battery). Only replacing the worn out part can fix the issue. Also, battery issues aren't covered by warranty, unless your battery explodes, lol. The problem with the memory card is a separate issue. Other than disassemling the device and checking for bent contacts, I got nothing. But most likely, it's not related to the contacts, otherwise it wouldn't ever recognize the memory card. Or maybe it's a fked up microchip controller. If you're worried about losing your save data, just back it up sometimes. It's a normal SD-card after all.

You'd be surprised. Corrosion inside the battery case or failing dialectic can lead to intermittent failure in other parts of the device that are getting almost-but-not enough power. Replacing your battery may fix your card problem.

Install HD Sentinel to find out whether it's indeed HDD related.

Got another Critical Process Failed blue screen today so I finally downloaded this program.

Ran this. Gave my Hard Drive a 100% performance rating but an 8% health rating. (critical) and an estimated lifespan of 8 more days.
I guess that means drive is borked but I don't know how to read or understand the program just yet and there are a few articles out there questioning its accuracy.

over 400 bad sectors

I'm far from an expert myself. But if the program literally tells you/me the HDD is nearly dead, that's all you/I need to know. Back up your data, save your pictures, documents, whatever is important, before it's too late. As a general rule, I believe a completely stuffed HDD with very little free space still available is gonna wear out sooner. Because the OS has no choice but to write to the same few available sectors again and again, wearing them out prematurely. Regarding the accuracy of this program, it simply reads the S.M.A.R.T. data from the HDD, just like any other HDD tool does. The S.M.A.R.T. data itself is created automatically and remains unaffected by such programs. They just read it, they don't write to it. The bad sectors are definitely real. You can try a different program, like Crystal Disk Info, but it will tell you the same thing. They just read the smart data. I like HD Sentinel, because it's the only tool I know of, to give a rough estimate on the remaining lifespan of the HDD. Which is exactly what everyone wants to know.
