Adding new tags?

I was wondering if it would be proper to start tagging some posts as josou_seme its a tag I came across exhentai a while back. Basically its where the more feminine male takes lead in sexual intercourse. Though this does not mean that they're the one on top, (or the one doing the penetrating)

There was also a tag already in place small_dom_big_sub that I've been adding to. When I started there were only six pictures with said tag. And now there is over 80 quite an accomplishment for one man if I had to say so myself!

However, there is no big_dom_small_sub tag, something which e621 has along with the small_dom_big_sub tag and I was wondering if that should be added as well.

Please be aware that new tags should be discussed and approved on the forums before being used. If a tag only has six images, chances are it wasn't discussed and approved.

In the case of those "*_dom_*_sub" tags, they would need to be renamed to fall within our tag naming policies. Tag names shouldn't use abbreviations or slang.

As for "josou_seme", we generally tend to shy away from Japanese words in general tags unless the thing referenced is entirely Japanese anyway ("kotatsu") or the word is very well-known among English speakers ("bukkake", "serafuku"). If at all possible, we'd prefer to convert "josou_seme" to English.

Oh boooooy, wish you had told me that last night. We are proud to say that during the night we successfully managed to tag another 100 images with said tag. I mean I'd be more than happy to go back and rename them (which will be much easier now that they're all found) to fit tagging protocols but I had kind of assumed that the tag had already been approved since it was there. My bad.

I suppose for josou seme the tag could be 'tomgirl_lead' I was going to offer feminine lead but well that isn't gender specific where as josou seme is entirely gender specific to males. However I think it would be more efficient to keep both tags the way they are. people who come here from e-hentai/exhentai or e621 would thus be able to better navigate gelbooru's image board because of tag familiarity.

smaller_dominant (because it would already mean that the submissive is larger than the dominant one) so adding the lengthy big_submissive or larger submissive is simply entirely unnecessary at that point. the opposite tag of this version would be larger_dominant this keeps it nice and simple and genderless so it can be applied to both genders while also including their role.

While we are on this. It may be in order to make the tags larger_male larger_female and smaller_male smaller_female. something that e621 has that gelbooru sorely lacks.

and i'd think dominant_tomgirl would be better and it would even allow for dominant_tomboy

personally I've already voiced my wishes to keep the tags the same as they are on other image boards to make inter image board navigation easier.

You mentioned earlier how you tend to shy away from japanese words, but there is the tag bara, which would be much more inclusive if it were changed to the tag muscular_males as there is already a tag for muscular_females but not one for muscular_males. I understand bara means gay men specifically mostly older and muscular folks yet if they wanted that they could simply type in muscular_males combined with the yaoi tag. This would mean that people who wanted straight muscular_males could simply type in those tags instead of straight and muscles which will combine their results with that of muscular_females.

Just something I thought would be more beneficial.

The "edit" tag's wiki says to use "edited" instead but it's still being used, so I thought I'd bring that up here but then I found the "photoshop" tag. The "edited" and "photoshop" tags seem to be identical so I was thinking that "edit" and "edited" should probably be merged into and alias to "photoshop".

I changed the wiki for edited and added that to the edit wiki. I can't fix it right now because the mass-tagging mod tool needs an update.

Jedi forgive my impatience, but what of my suggest tags? I can try and make them better if you want, but I believe gelbooru desperately needs tags like these.

Well, I don't want to be the only voice that approves a tag so we might wait for at least one more mod to speak up.

I guess I'm fine with smaller_dominant and larger_dominant. Then, larger_dominant might be implied by "sex -smaller_dominant" if it where truly tagged well. If this level of tagging weren't feasible then it would be better as a pool.

muscular_male - Seams like this is implied with "muscle -muscular_female" (Over 36,000 posts)

The trap tag is used for males with a feminine appearance so dominant_tomgirl may be redundant with "sex trap -femdom -yaoi -futanari -newhalf" (Around 500 posts.)

For dominant_tomboy just use "femdom tomboy". (14 posts)

for eight years I have been browsing gelbooru, for eight long years i have never known of the -'insert tag here'... until now... this changes everything. But i think truly then it would be "size_difference sex -smaller_dominant" However I do very much see your point.

Also very fair point on the trap and tomgirls. and the "muscles -muscular_female"

I'd still have to suggest the josou_seme tag though. Because it serves to signify when the tomgirl is taking the lead over a sexual partner, be it male or female. and in terms of yaoi conent it would help refine the search results for those people interested in it.

so I guess we're just left with as far as what I'm still wanting to put forth after this new discovery of the -tag

I don't think smaller/larger_males/females is as viable as I once thought it was now that I know of the -tag. Still something to consider though.

And I'm fine with waiting, just wanting to make sure that you guys know I'm here. :D
