Need program to help sort porn collection
Posted on: 09/21/11 08:46PM

So while I do love this site, I like to save my favorites to my own computer. I don't really like vista's built in tag feature. Currently I am using folders but that only allows me to place the image under one category.

I do have a roommate who uses my computer from time to time so I like to password protect and hide my porn. Such a feature would be a plus. I use a separate hidden password protected profile on firefox for browsing the internet. And I used TrueCrypt to create a hidden encrypted password protected partition on my harddrive.

Yes I could just log out of my windows profile and he could use the guest profile. But I forget to log some times and then I get really paranoid and have to check that I logged out of firefox and truecrypt properly.

Heard of SD cards? they won't protect your pictures but you can save pictures and music on there and then eject the card and take it with you somewhere when you're not around your computer.

No it's not a program.

I've got a couple solutions:

1.) Similar to an SD card, you could get a USB flash drive and keep that with you.

2.) If you're looking for a program to password protect your files, you could try Winrar. You take all the files you want to be password protected, and place them in this special folder(s). But if you do that, every time you want to see your files, you'll have to enter the password in AND place the files outside of the folder to view them(folder shows no thumbnails, only the image name). That could be too much work.

3.)Have you tried the simple method of making right-clicking your folders, make them hidden, then making it to where your computer cannot detect hidden files?

I installed Picasa on the encrypted partition. Now whenever I dismount the drive, as I do whenever I am not using it, it becomes inaccessible.

Hidden partitions > SD card

In my opinion, if you have a roomate and he uses your computer sometimes, he probably has some sort of clue as to what you do.(not like it matters though, its your computer.)

Either way, I'm glad you found a solution. And with that...

Can someone lock this thread now?
