Should WebM take precedence over GIF when making animated stuff posted to Gelbooru? I will be making mostly very short loops.
What I am asking is: should I stick to WebM or use GIF for extremely short looping stuff? Or can I upload both versions?

I guess we'd PREFER Webm, but I don't think it truly matters, especially if its a short loop.

Just be careful that its not too short.

Anything over 15 seconds or so should probably be a webm. GIF compression looks terrible, and GIF file size is gigantic. It's a 20-year-old format, after all.

Assuming that the image is otherwise unaltered, do we have a policy on removing censor bars and decensoring images?

Decensored versions of an image are considered to be a completely different image, and as such both the original and decensored version are kept.

Decensors are judged on how well the decensoring was done. Poorly-done decensors will be deleted.

Understood. Just wondering how important it is to avoid duplicates. Thanks.

What's the consensus for traced art?

Several weeks ago, somebody submitted a Pixiv user's animu illustration of a certain nude model photographed by Rikitake. I remember the shit-storm that ensued in the comments, mainly questioning if the submission violates Gelbooru's ToS. I can't find the image and I don't know the artist name, so I have no further knowledge on the status of said illustration. Though there are a few submissions floating around here that contain various interpretations of that model. They have been fine for the past year!

On a side note: wluls this rule apply for traced b ball players on Pixiv? Found a beast drawing of Lebron circa the Heat era.

It is a case-by-case thing, but I don't believe we generally care.

We have "derivative_work" ( gelbooru.com/index.php?pa...&tags=derivative_work ), and while it's mostly used for images based off an already existing image, we do have traces in there.

And, while this is hard to explain properly, I feel like there's a difference between shitty Deviantart plagiarism and art like post #2258464, post #2803039 (the derivative)

I'm... not sure this would fly

Does the Danbooru bot have a system in place to avoid uploading content (to Gelbooru) that is already uploaded?

Only the same system that a normal user has. It's not foolproof but it works decently.
