Server unexpectedly went down.

For about seven hours today the server died. I have no real idea what caused the problem, but it appears it may be related to the RAID card faultering and giving us many STOP messages. I'll keep an eye out on the server for a bit to see if it goes down again.

It has been dropping again recently in case you haven't noticed during the rebuilding of our thumbnails. This is a bit of a problem and after doing a rescan of the array, it has dropped our drive on port 0. Our array is now at a degraded level. The thumbnail rebuild will occur again after I back up the data.

Another drive has been dropped from the RAID array for no apparent reason. Again, it may be a hardware issue with the card, but there is no way for me to test it at the moment. Hopefully we'll have a working RAID setup until June.

More updates!

I have just purchased three 1TB drives and a new PSU as suggested in a previous hardware thread. The CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W version.

I'll attempt to have this all installed and set up in the new case, which will then make it easier to replace drives without much/any issue or me being required to do the work. I also have quite a few backup motherboards now thanks to RMA and extra purchases made, so, downtime due to frying will hopefully be nil. All the new hardware will arrive Tuesday or so and I will not be traveling to Chicago to do this work immediately, as I normally do.

If the thumbnails die out like they've been doing, I will attempt to create a software RAID using onboard chipset drivers. You can bet it won't be much better.

I have made a purchase for a new processor and a 1u sized power supply. We should have a data server ready for use in about 7 days. This will only mirror Gelbooru's data to start, just to make sure it can handle the load.

*Edit* I will not be able to set it up immediately after it is built due to lack of money. Gotta pay geltas to do work. Expect these slow speeds until near the end of summer. :(

New data server is online and currently resyncing. It is now experiencing 4MB/s of bandwidth usage and our main server is now at 10MB/s. When the syncing is done verifying all the files I will drop all data requests to the new server.
