Ferryt, it's a temporal state of amnesia which is hard to master and I think has something to do with being able to control your own dreams. You know how when your baking something in the oven, and before you set the timer, the phone rings and you go pick it up and talk to the person for so long, that you completely forgot to set the timer? OR, when you walk into the kitchen then when you get there, you forgot what you went there for in the first place? It has something to do with that. I think its you switch focus on something to something else and it makes you forget your previous focus. The REAL trick is to remember the time before you saw something you didn't want to remember, and only the time after you saw it; the part in the middle(the one you Don't want to remember) gets omitted from your mind so to speak UNLESS you concentrate on what it was that you didn't want to remember. It's a chain of events kinda thing.

O.K., lets try this, Try to remember songs, then their lyrics. After about a set amount(I think it's around the area of 412, at least for me) of songs, and after about a week if disfocused conduct from said songs, try to remember each song and lyric off the top of your head.
Chances are, you'll remember the worst and best songs, but not much of the middle ones or and maybe you may forget the lyrics to the songs you Do remember.

It isn't easy to accomplish but with practice, it should work.
Then again, I am the only other person that knows how it works so results may vary. I would love to explain the details, but that requires me to make a doc about it, which means I'll need Encarta, MS word, and Enough time and Drive to write it. As of this time, I don't have any of that at the moment.

About Guro, If they post too much of it, people are going to get a bad impression of Gelbooru. Board Leader has already contemplated removing it and perhaps other content from being allowed to be posted. Since perhaps there may exist a correlation of Guro and Mal users, it may be only a matter of time before the last straw is dropped. I don't believe anything else is on the chopping block aside from the main three: Gu, To, Sc. So Tenties, Raep, etc are safe until/IF they become a major problem, which isn't likely to happen based on Hentai clichés and majority interests & the users well/tolerable behavior towards it.

Nope -- it's not going to work for me, I'm afraid. I can't remember anything associated with "language" on a first pass, or usually even a second or third pass, but that's probably less the issue than the fact that *images* get burned indelibly into my memory if they really catch my attention, which anything with "shock" value will. Besides, I *can* control my dreams -- to the point of "staging" dreams with specific content and having lucid dreams almost at will. I've been doing "dreamwork" for almost half my life, so I'm pretty good at it.

Anyway, I don't think your fears about guro are really well-founded. Our guro fans will behave themselves if there are specific, unambiguous rules in place. I don't think we really have that many, anyway. Suppression of guro from visibility in the way we currently hide toddlercon should solve most of the problems, at least as a stop-gap measure until something better is worked out, and removal of guro from the board could, as pointed out in a different thread, cause a blacklash of guro dumps (without tagging). Give niche fans a place to call "home" and they'll entertain themselves and not bother anyone. That's why /d/ exists on boards like 4chan and Fchan, or, more to the point, why some boards have a /b/ section to partition off the real retards from everyone else.

Yes,I agree with NogameDate
posting anonymously is very important
I think it would protect our privacy
you may not want to see some Strange
people around you after you post a strange
pic

First, your images suck and Guro is some fucked up shit, thats why many post how sick that is. You cant stop them. Like they said, you cant unsee it. So if you start demanding now, find another place. Thank gelbooru that guro is even allowed.
And for some guro uploaders: add a fucking "guro", "gore", "blood" or whatever tag! The blacklist goes fucking useless when you dont. And thats why many flame wars start!

Oh well, Yay me for having this ability. There is a certain way to do it, but I guess you have made it clear that you cannot. I find it strange that you can control your dreams, but can't “unsee” something. Do you remember what you had for breakfast two weeks ago? I guess it's easy to remember if you always eat the same thing for breakfast. As I have said(or at least I think I have mentioned), The trick is to focus on some many things at once before your brain complete registers something you don't want to remember that you completely forget about it and move one to what you were doing before keeping in mind to avoid a certain something that you can't recall but are aware to your judgment that you should avoid. If you don't want me to explain anymore, I think I'll just stop.

Not completely true, at least as my experience serves, there are a few that always seem to leak out to other places. Giving them a home just encourages them. Maybe IF they did always tag well, then we'd be fine with it. But that hasn't happened yet. Also, the bad rep due to association plays a part in it as well. There shouldn't be any problems with removing furry since they have their own well structured Booru to call their own; I'm fairly certain that Every Furry pic here with the tag is also on that Booru so there wouldn't be any loss of interest. That booru also has a human section which I find sorta interesting.

Someguy99 brings up the good point that IF they were tagged correctly, we wouldn't even really be having this discussion. So, I guess in the end(hehe, in the end), it isn't a matter of niche, it's a matter of stupidity for not tagging correctly, and obnoxious people in general. IF we can't throw the pics out then gate them up good somehow for the people who actually want to see it.

Unremembering: No, Thref ... I really can't do this, and I know exactly what you're talking about. If it works for you, then good for you. However, controlling dreams has nothing to do with selective amnesia ... there are no commonalities between forgetting things and lucid dreaming that I can think of.

I have to disagree that giving niche fans a home encourages them to spam places other than their homes, if that's what you were implying. In fact, the converse is going to be true. If you DON'T give them a home they'll make your home their home. We saw it happen on 4chan recently during the time when /b/ was down. Did the /b/tards just dissapear? Of course they didn't. They invaded other boards, even other sites. These people WILL post their stuff whether they have a home base or not. If they have a home base they'll congregate there. If they don't, they'll congregate in places where you really don't want them. Sure, there will always be a few trolls, but when they have no place of their own they all become trolls because the only place they have to dump their shit is in your own living room.

The example I gave of /d/ is a perfect case in point. "Deviant" hentai was segregated to its own board because other people were finding the posting of tentacles, monster girls, futa, and other "extreme" hentai unsettling. Once /d/ was in place the /d/eviants stayed there. While /b/ is up most of those guys happily post their drivel on /b/ and we don't have to see it anywhere else. Its a proven system. It works because it relies upon that aspect of human nature that is summed up as "birds of a feather flock together".

Either that or the main operating bit of any *chan type board is the content expiration. This ensures that one image doesn't dominate the board for too long. Gelbooru doesn't have that, everything remains here until it is deleted. I'm going to leave the guro/gore ban in place until I can find enough mods in training to handle the images we have and are willing to view those type of images.

So far there is one. That's not enough. It appears artifact riddled images are still making it through the queue as well... With that said, this thread is going off topic and I will not allow users to selectively ban someone from posting anonymously from their posts.
