Server problems?
Posted on: 06/05/09 12:02AM

I'm not sure if this is just my slow connection, but has anyone noticed that the loading of images (and sometimes thumbnails) has gotten considerably sluggish lately? Sometimes, it would take up to 20 seconds to load an image, or it would stop loading an image halfway, or it would show a white box in place of the image and I'd have to reload the page. Is anyone else having these problems?

I have noticed that the images are loading slower, too...

...although it may be because I tend to open five images at a time when fixing/adding tags. (You'd be surprised how many Touhou pictures are missing the Touhou tag, but I digress). It does seems to load a little slower then it did last week, even with multiple windows being opened in rapid succession then, too.

It's just a subjective thing, I admit, but I seem to have noticed a slowdown, too -- and not just because I have uTorrent running in the background. It seemed slow before I started running that program, and I'm on a direct cable connection right now. I've even had some pages time out.

Have you noticed any time-related pattern to this? It could be that the slowdown occurs during high-usage periods.

Time is practically a non-issue for me. When I went to this site yesterday at 2~3am EST, I still had some noticable lag in image loading speeds. I use cable internet with no other programs in the background.

*Edit* We've been pushing 100mbps nearly all hours of the day so I had to make a new server purchase. It is nearly built now, I just need to install the operating system and make sure the drive is functioning correctly.
