Games based on (c) material and donations
Posted on: 06/10/09 07:34PM

Just a quick question. Does anyone know the legalities of asking for a donation (not purchase so obviously optional) with reguards to games released to the public at no charge that use copywrite material?

I know alot of copywrite material is on this site but they don't ask for donations, while other sites do.

Any help appreciated

I'm not sure what you mean. You may wish to talk to a lawyer that studies copyright law, both international and domestic.

Thanks for the fast reply. What i mean to say is: is it ok to accept donations for free software. Even though this software may contain copywrite material.

I will see if i can find a lawyer somewhere who knows what is considered ok, legal wise, for fan created work.

Thanks again.

I doubt it is. But as you said, you should find a lawyer who knows more about this. :)
