Over the past few days, I've been getting error messages when I look for images using the search bar. It always says "Search is Down! Go find images the old-fashioned way!"

Yeah... I'm not sure why this is. We've tried updating our searcher container, but that didn't work. We updated it again to the latest version milestone release. Hopefully it won't do it anymore. With my luck you can expect it to happen again though. :(
Edit* I've downgraded Java, perhaps it had to do with the JVM... Unlikely, but worth a try. I'm out of other options at this point.
