About one of the policies here...

I've known about this policy for a while now, but the way it's been implemented is kinda bugging me...

I understand that entire doujinshi are not allowed to be posted here. Although we have thedoujin.com , that site doesn't seem to be very active, and the fact that you have to seek approval from admins to have something uploaded seems to be discouraging users from going there and actually providing material.

Is it possible to enable uploading at TheDoujin without approval (just like Gelbooru and E-hentai) and maybe allow a "sample page" or two of a doujin to be posted here (with a link to the whole thing, if available)?

This is being planned, however at the moment it is not possible for users to upload. I was playing with the idea of having a separate database for user uploads and one for the official additions. The only problem is parenting images would be a bit difficult with the tweaks I've made. We'd need to wait for pooling to become available in Gelbooru before I can even think about offering uploads to users on that site.

Is it still allowable for a sample page or a title page to be posted here, though?

Nope. I've went through my posts and removed what doujin I had uploaded. Well, a few anyway. I'm sure I'll need to go through them some time and finish the job.

Well I hope you actually implement pooling here and change that site soon, because it's really pointless to prohibit doujin posts with the sole purpose of directing attention to a doujin gallery when users can't even post there as freely as they can over here. Plus, it would also help if links to TheDoujin.com were more prevalent throughout the site.

I've decided that I'm going to port the SadPanda code so that users can upload a whole collection which then in turn gets added to the site by me. This should be enough hopefully. No estimated time when it will be ready. At least until pooling is created.

I second grgspunk's sentiments. You can delete posts for 'belongs in the doujin section' when and only when people can actually put them there. Otherwise you may as well ban them outright and say so honestly. Right now you don't have a 'doujin section'. You have the staff showing off their collection of doujin.

I do ban them outright and say so honestly. It's in the TOS.

I seem to be not understanding what you're saying, squidsinger.

I guess it's just the phrasing that bothers me.

You could just say 'no doujin allowed,' but it seems mean to say 'this belongs over there' and then 'over there' isn't there.
It's like having a sign that says 'please use other entrance' that points to a locked door.

Gelbooru is our first concern, thedoujin was added later, so I would focus your efforts on Gelbooru's community squid. If people really want to post things to Doujin you can mail them to lozer. When he has time I'm sure it'll go up.

If you do want to better doujin, feel free to add tags, there are a TON of them that need them.
