Artist Incase, banned?
Posted on: 07/10/15 01:52PM

Is Incase's work banned? I don't think he's a japanese artist, I know in the ToS it says there are some exceptions.

I uploaded a picture of his and it got taken down so I'm assuming it is?

Also his tag says there are 150 images but only about 40 appear

There is no such thing as a banned or allowed artist. Artwork is given exception on an image-by-image basis. Even if some of an artist's works are allowed, the rest may still be deleted, and vice-versa.

Gelbooru is a Japanese-themed site. All artwork on the site must be related to Japan in some way. If the artist is not Japanese, this generally means that their artwork must be based on a Japanese copyright. I haven't actually looked into incase's art, but usually when about half of an artist's works are deleted and half are kept, the ones that were deleted were based on non-Japanese copyrights.

So what was the reason on his art deletion?

As far as I can tell, incase is a a western artist. Most of the deleted artwork I'm able to find is based on western copyrights or original characters, and is therefore off-topic.

I'm seeing a couple posts based on Japanese copyrights that were hit by a mass-delete on 2010 back when anything drawn by a non-Japanese artist was banned, but even now these are drawn in too much of a western style to receive an exception. There are also a couple more recent ones deleted for the very same reason.

There's an OC created by a British artist, Incase did a drawing of said charecter.
The British artist's versions of the character remain up while, though very similar, Incase's version was removed

So it can simply come down to style?
or maybe the other artist work hasn't been found out/removed from gelbooru yet?

I just want to say I'm not trying to be difficult. I want to know what is excepted so I don't waste my time uploading and your time removing.

Very frequently, yes.

And this is the most common reason. We have only a handful of active moderators to patrol thousands of posts per day. Many of us have other obligations (full-time jobs, college, etc) that prevent us from checking every single post, so it's easy for posts to get past us. Most of the time I only end up catching posts if I happen to be looking at the main listing right as they're uploaded, or if they get commented on or flagged for deletion.
