This isn't something unique to Gelbooru; it's considered poor etiquette in almost all traditional forums unless there's something important and noteworthy where actually bumping the thread so it gets people's attention would be required. That's probably the type of thing you posted in the gardener's guild and the reason why you didn't get called out for it.
That's good to know. I actually don't spend much time in traditional forums, but I do spent a lot of time on reddit. I'm sure that explains a few things. I really try. I hate being a nuisance (or at least feeling like one), and I always try to learn.

This explains a lot. I've always been a forum guy since the 90's so it's interesting seeing people who have little experience with them.
I don't think anyone believes your being a nuisance though, so don't worry about it.
