Hey gelbooru mods and admins. Do you have any definite rules we are expected to follow? If so, could you please state what they are?

I've already read the FAQ, I'm wondering if there's anything more particular than that. My apologies if this is addressed somewhere already, if so I can't seem to find it.

But what if I want to be a jerk! :P

Thanks for the link. One question though. There's a part in the TOS that says we can't upload "non-anime." I may be asking something that's a bit "duh," but I want to be sure I know what I'm doing before I upload. Is this just in reference to photographs that aren't related to anime, or is western art prohibited as well?

Just keep in mind this is a Japanese image board. As long as you aren't stretching this simple idea, you'll be fine with what you upload.

Avatar is not Japanese. Therefor, it will be trashed. However, if Hideo Kojima drew it then it would stay. I know, I know, hypocritical, but that's just how the rule plays out. :)

That's helpful because I HAVE found some Japanese artists that draw things from comic books, but I was concerned more with if it's about a property from Japan (Valkyria Chronicles for example) but the person who drew it is from the United States or England or somewhere like that.

I'll assume that Japanese IPs drawn by Western artists are fine, but I'll wait a while to hear back before posting anything in case that's wrong. I just want to make sure I have the right idea before I go into adding what I have. Thanks for the help lozer!

Western artists should probably not be uploaded.

Okay, then I'll not upload them when I know they're from Western artists. Thanks!

What about western artists like Sigurd?

He is a Lala-kun copycat artist... who is eastern, but Sigurd himself is not Japanese.

I've seen a LOT of good images by western artists here.

I guess there must be some rule exceptions that allow western drawn pics. That exception being: The artist is good?

Maybe, since most western artists are not.

Yeah, I don't think western artists should be banned flat out. Japanese-style artwork is usually easy to spot since it tends to have "that look", but if a talented western artist can create something in the same style, what's the harm in it? ("talented" was the key word)

I see the same thing within another niche interest of mine: Japanese swords. There's a faction of purists out there that contend that a Japanese-style sword forged by a western smith can never be acceptable or as good as one forged by a Japanese smith, despite the existence of extremely talented western smithies (like Howard Clark, and a few others). People on my side of the perspective call those purists the "Nihonto Nazis". :)
