Like always the anime is just an advertisement for the manga/novel. they usually don't even properly finish these adaptations because they just want to give people a reason to buy the source material.
No kidding! Read the white subs on top:

It might still be fine though, One Punch Man was a great adaptation despite only doing a small piece of the story, but that was an action comedy that was strongest at it's most ridiculous moments.
I still need to check out Mob Psycho but OPM has made me a fan of the authors work at least.
I love OPM, every single episode is gold. But mob doesn't live up to OPM, because you can't/don't want to relate to the main character at all. Though seemingly unbeatable, he is a complete tool, most of the time. So he and everyone else just make you cringe. Well, I'm still merely at the 8th episode, but the show has definitely picked up some pace, which is good, because things are finally starting to happen, so there is stuff to see.
similarities:
- both want to become popualar so bad (but haven't got the looks)
- tragic hero doesn't get the recognition he deserves, aside from a single blonde guy
- someone profits from the work the hero does (in OPM it's King (normal human) and in MOB it's Reigen (normal human))
- monsters and ghosts are killed off in an instant
- same pajamas, lol
Edit: Mob's ending definitely beats OPM's ending, thanks to clever plot twists.
