Problem with Uploading
Posted on: 12/20/16 03:54AM

Trying to upload pbs.twimg.com/media/CPvxy4fUEAAM3IF.jpg but doesn't allow me to, without giving any reasons. Sometimes it gives me the error "not HTTP protocol".

Additional Information:
I am posting from China with Astrill VPN, on a laptop that runs Mac

If I remember correctly, VPNs are not allowed on Gelbooru.

Not HTTP protocol? Sounds like your VPN is failing.

I am having a similiar issues of not being able to upload anything. It doesn't list any reasons, it simply says "You can't perform this action. Reason:" and ends there. While the op of this thread may be having VPN issues, I am not using any VPNs whatsoever on my end so it seems more unclear.

That means that your IP has been banned. Normally it would list the reason why.

I don't have access to the database, so I can't research the actual reason why your IP was banned, but lozer should be able to.

Right, that's.. interesting to know. I can't fully think of why my IP would be banned myself, so I'll just keep an eye on this thread till Lozer or another admin with access posts back as to the reason why.

After that, depending on the reason, I'll see if I can look into getting the ban lifted, but.. baby steps. First I wait to learn why.

Lozer is the only person with access.

Hmm..still nothing from Lozer?

Well, this check in is also a good time to mention my old router was failing and I replaced it the other day so not sure if that would count for ban evasion if that actually changed my IP or such but I still won't upload even if that is the case due to it till this whole thing gets sorted.

Usually replacing your router will, indeed, cause your IP to change.

I wouldn't worry about a different IP. Mine changes at least once a day, whether I want it, or not. That's how German providers do things. Doing this allows the assholes to make sure noone can have a free server. If anyone here wants a stable connection, they'll have to pay extra. Though I also exploit this "feature", when downloading from ftp servers in free mode. No waiting between downloads for me, because I reconnect and get a new IP.
