The choice to see or not see hidden comments is still gone though & I can't rate comments or see the ratings on comments.
Comment rating system has been removed from Gelbooru. All the features relying on it are gone as well.

You can always just turn off adblock just to favorite something then turn it back on.
Or you can copy the link address for adding favorites and just replace the id number to favorite.

You shouldn't have to disable your AdBlocker just to use a basic feature of the site. The adverts still manage to get around AdBlockPlus, so it's useless on gelbooru anyway, but still, that's selfish of those running the site to force you to have to disable your adblocker just to use basic features, I'm sure they know what those ads could pass to their users. Using an adblock also disables your ability to see Notes on pages where translation notes have been added as well, along with the ability to browse your own favorites list. At least that's what AdBlockPlus does for me.

You're right, you shouldn't have to, but they didn't test a single rule before pushing them to over 70% of the users of the site. It's not my problem that features are broken, only yours.
