Yeah, except only a dumbass thinks a video game movie will ever be good.
Super Mario Bros., Final Fantasy TSW and the first Resident Evil were movies I liked. There weren't great, but they were good. FF7 Advent Children is a really awesome movie and FF15 Kingsglaive was ok. The Street Fighter anime movies are great classics. The Tekken CG movie was meh.

It's very comparable to the old RE games, linear story with a lot of exploration. It is a survival horror game set in a big honking mansion, modern RE it is not.
Don't let the first person perspective fool you, it's a survival horror game first, adventure game second, and a shooter third.
I'm fine with the FPS thing, even though I suck at FPS games. The first Resident Evil was supposed to be made in first person perspective and ever since I learned that, I've been dreaming what the first game would be like in FPS.

Putting Resident Evil back in a mansion is a great way to placate my super nerdy beef with the very name *Resident* *Evil*. Once you take it out of the house, there are no more "residents". Zombies are as "evil" as a shark or a bear. Giving you some human adversaries could change that too...though from what I've seen, calling them "evil" might not be appropriate either.
There have been human opponents in the RE series, already. Though I like my survival horror with as few survivors as possible.

Advent Children is fucking awesome and certainly fills the niche of a "good video game movie" better than anything else I've ever seen. Just kinda lacking in the story department. Had to watch at least fives times (that should tell you something right there) to get what the villains were even doing.

Perhaps I should have clarified that "Only a dumbass thinks live action video game movies getting a wide release will be good." Still need to get around to Kingsglaive. There's a Tekken movie? Huh. News to me.

Yeah...I know. But they can't exactly be "residents" without a house. :p The brainwashed hordes of 4 and 5 certainly are not evil, either.

I don't think the American name of that series matters much.

And on that note, is it me or has the consensus on 5 lightened up in recent years? Seem to remember it being pretty lukewarm at the time

Why do you care so much about consensuses? Don't you have your own opinion on things?

Yes. :p And my opinion is that I quite like RE5, but am curious because that would be a rare turn of events.

RE 4 to 6 along with Rev 1 & 2 are great games. Not great "Resident Evil" games, but by all means, great games.

Speaking of slim PS2s, mine lasted forever and reads things just fine.

In fact, my first PS2 took a minor fall and borked itself completely.

The abuse my slim went through without breaking is amazing.

Though I feel the FPS of everything is starting to drop. Haven't figured out if this is from the PS2 wearing down or the discs.
