Like for example if i want to search for an artist, it tells me there are 100 images for that artist. But when i click on the name all i see are a few images and only 1 page. I'm convinced that a few or lots of the artist's images are deleted.
Another example. I go to 'Posts' at the top to search for new images uploaded. Some are deleted because, for whatever reason, violation, duplicates, etc.. There happens to be an artist for a tag. I click on it and the deleted image isn't there. I want to search for all the images for that artist or whatever it is i specified. How do i go about doing that?

Deleted images are deliberately removed from searches. They can still appear in the main post listing but that is all. You can't really search for deleted posts. A perma-deleted post that contains perhaps illegal content or is just really old and so had been purged no longer exists on our server.

Our admin used to remove posts that had been deleted for a very long time. I don't know, maybe he still does. There is no expiration date, just what he feels like doing.
If it's not deleted from search it will not be removed from the server. I mean... post #1 is still here so... and post #3 has been gone for a long time now.

Lozer has told me that he tries to purge around 500 deleted images per week. Usually the ones he purges are clear-cut ToS violations like doujin pages, scat, etc.

DanbooruDownloader process deleted posts during search, but they will be among all other results, I see no way to search "only deleted" there...

I thought what you said was legit for just a second until jedi1357 said that there is no expiration date for a post.
Not like I actually thought they had expiration dates in the first place or anything.
Edit: Some posts just get deleted for violating the terms of service.
