Donator cannot disable ads
Posted on: 10/05/17 11:58PM

Hi,

Quite a while ago I became a patron of Gelbooru on Patreon, mainly because I wanted to disable the ads. After I had paid the required amount, I claimed my reward on the site, and the ads disappeared.

But today, I logged in and my search results are filled with adverts.

I tried re-enabling the 'disable ads' option under 'Claim your Patreon rewards', and I tried logging out and back in again, but that does not seem to have stopped the ads.

Frankly, I'll pay for any decent service if it'll get rid of the ads, especially if the ads are as revolting as these ones. But something's wrong, and I can't disable them.

How can I fix this please?

Thanks. ^-^

Make sure anything blocking or interfering with ads (AdBlock, uBlock Plus, some antivirus software such as Avast, or anything else that blocks ads) or scripts (NoScript, Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey if there's something your scripts do that prevents ours from properly running, some antivirus software such as Avast, or anything else that could interfere with scripts running) is disabled for Gelbooru. If you have AdBlock Plus and disabling it specifically for Gelbooru doesn't work, try disabling it globally and see if that does - a lot of people have experienced a bug where AdBlock Plus triggers the anti-adblock even when it isn't actually blocking anything.

If this doesn't work and you're legitimately not using any ad or script blockers, please give us as much information about your browser and system setup as you can so we can attempt to localize the problem.

Thanks! Disabling my anti-virus browser add-on did the trick... for some reason.

I would recommend seeing if there's a way to disable that add-on just for Gelbooru. I'd feel bad to have you more vulnerable on other sites just because the powers that be decided they didn't like our anti-adblock and wanted to make the site not function because of it.

Edit: things work now, had script blocked enabled.
