About the Ads...

I've done it for you. Killed the uMatrix. Flashing screens in all its glory now when I look at stuff. This is all on one condition however. I originally started Adblocking the site long ago on the site after getting a fake "FBI browser hijacker" popunder. I hope this won't ever be an issue in the future, Gelbooru has been my source for 6(?+) years for anime related pictures (lots of wallpapers too) and I was disappointing with that popunder.

Don't expect any real answer, just a locked thread or some shit about pasta.

You can disable the pop ups so you just end up looking at banners. Would be nice if they were still doing the decrease in ads over time, but I guess that won't happen soon.

Thank you for choosing to support the site. If you're worried about popunders, you can disable those in your account options to only get banner ads. We do not allow banner ads to run third-party scripts. That is, the only scripts the banner ads will run are those from our ad provider itself, not from whoever purchases the ads.

I can count on one hand the number of malicious ads we've had over the time I've been a moderator, but if you experience one, please contact a moderator or administrator immediately. If you have Discord, go to our #help channel and @Admin @Moderator to let us know about it so we can get it taken down as soon as possible. If not, make a post on the forums and contact as many site moderators or administrators as possible via the site's mail function (you can find a list in the FAQ thread).

We will not tolerate malicious ads, and neither will our ad provider, but at the site level we don't get to select what ads are shown; we don't even know what ads are on the site besides those that we see, which are targeted at our geographical location. Our ad provider does their best to screen ads, but sometimes something slips through. In our experience, once they've actually identified the ad causing the problem, it gets taken down immediately.

This is why it's important to report as much detailed information about any malicious ads as possible. Please include your geographic location (we don't need to know your address, just which country, and maybe state or province for large or diverse countries) and, if possible, a link to the ad itself (popunders should show up in your browser history). This information helps us to get malicious ads pulled as quickly as possible so you and other users don't have to experience them again.

However, like I said, actual malicious ads have been very rare. Our ad provider does a pretty decent job keeping almost all of the malicious ads from actually going up on the site.

Again, thank you for choosing to support the site. People like you are the reason the site is able to continue running.

We are on track to re-enable that. We will know for certain in a month.
