Why I don't disable my ad blocker
Posted on: 11/11/17 06:52PM

When I browse this site, I almost always do it with "Safe images only" enabled, because I come here to look at nice art and cute pictures, not porn (hard to believe, right?).

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the ads on this site are pretty much just animated clips of hardcore porn. Allowing these ads through is really off-putting and essentially ruins the point of safe mode. I'm not one to enjoy having a normal, innocent picture next to oversized dicks and tits flopping around.

You might have more people disabling their ad blocker (including me) if you didn't run so much crude, explicit garbage that no sane person enjoys seeing, much less clicking on. Any reason why this isn't the case?

If you're in safe mode, you won't get any ads at all if you disable adblock. No banners, no popunders, nothing. Except maybe the ads we run for artists on their own tags/images.

Even though I flame a little bit every now and then I'd still like to say that I wouldn't mind one bit if we could donate to have no ads (could have options for monthly or yearly, idk). That way it wouldn't be "functionality locked behind a paywall" and instead would be some quality-of-life that would be optional. People are happy they don't see ads, admins are happy because the site's funded (more so than it currently is anyway) and everyone can get back to looking at the pics they want. I know something like this has almost certainly been proposed before, and I know it would take time to implement, but I still feel like it would be a great win-win situation for all involved if it came to fruition. I don't know how many unique users there are (idk if the "visitors" listed on the front page are just page views or not, but either way with how fast some tags grow I'm guessing A LOT) but I feel like if even 1/10th contributed monetarily it would, at the very least, noticeably soften the blow of the cost to run the site.

One issue with pay to hide ads is some ad providers don't like or don't allow it. People with disposable income like that are people with disposable income that ad providers want to reach.

That being said I have like $20 in bitcoin which I have no real use for.
