Is this silly keystroke rule really needed?

Everybody writing a short comment that is straight to the point just simply do things like this:

Keystroke keystroke keystroke.

So why the unnecessary rule when people simply bypass it?

Comments short enough not to get caught by the keystrokes filter are almost always too short to be allowed.

We do not allow really short and simple comments like "dat ass" or "hot". If we had no keystrokes filter, we'd be deleting those types of comments manually.

Yes, some people bypass it. When we find these comments, we generally delete them. If they're by a registered user, we send them a warning not to do it again, since comments that short are generally a violation of our commenting guidelines.

No, we currently don't have any plans to remove the keystroke filter. On the other hand, given recent spam comments we've received, it may actually be made significantly more robust.

I thought you’d post a long speech and not answer the actual question.
Which was “Is this silly keystroke rule actually needed?”

Yes, it's needed, because extremely short comments don't contribute to the site, they bury other comments making them more difficult to moderate, and most importantly, we don't like them.

That is just a highly subjective statement. But ok.

It's two-thirds objective.

Your statement is subjective too.
