THUMBNAIL

Excuse my ignorance but is there a way to change the thumbnails for my uploaded videos on this site, or for that matter, the default thumbnail for each of my videos stored on my computer that will be the same when uploaded here?

I feel videos are better if they have a good thumbnail.

Currently our system scans the first second (or several seconds) of a webm and chooses a random frame from that to be the thumbnail. I think only the admin can change how this works.

All the same, feature requests should go in the trac: gelbooru.com/index.php?page=tracker&s=list

We scan the entire video and choose a random frame. This is to prevent people from uploading illegal content by hiding it behind an innocuous thumbnail.

So I’m guessing the thumbnail is different for each site and computer operating system, and there is no such thing as a default thumbnail for each video file I have.

Correct. The closest thing to a "default" is that many sites and OSes will use the first frame, but that isn't universal.
