"Mound_of_venus" WAS my favorite tag... why did they break it? Groin is NOT the same thing... a crotch shot does not necessarily include a nice juicy mound.

Groin is easier to type and remember than "mound_of_venus. How many people even know what that particular body part is? You might as well ask us why we tag butt as "ass" and not gluteus_maximus.

Was this not applicable or something?

For the purposes of tagging, "mound_of_venus" and "groin" were essentially the same. Both referred not to a mound, but rather the depressions at the top of the legs/bottom of the belly that form something of a V shape. They are easy to see in post #4250222.

Danbooru aliased "mound_of_venus" to "groin" a few years ago, likely because tagging a depression as a mound was somewhat unintuitive. Since we adopt 99.9% of Danbooru's tagging practices, it was really only a matter of time before the alias was reflected here. I was surprised it hadn't happened sooner, actually.
