Whenever i try to upload some pics - it seems the system wont allow it for whatever reason . I'll check the required fields and the existing image but it doesnt pass 1/5 of the posts . Am i doing something wrong ?

Here is how i usually proceed :

>Check if the image is already uploaded here

>Upload PNG or JPEG from a file

>Fill the tags fields

>Click upload

>Varying error messages (Mostly " An error occured. The image could not be added because it already exists or it is corrupted." )

Also noticed that it is kinda random as sometimes i try to reupload them and it works . ???

You use browse or submit to feed it an image and you can see if the image already exists on our site. As the error states "it already exists or it is corrupted."

Trying to use tags to find it on our site may not always work because the image might not have that tag.

If it worked later after that error message then it was likely corrupted. This usually happens with large files uploaded over a slow internet or your service is being interrupted. We can't fix that.

A traceroute may show you if your having issues talking to our site.

I already know that . I would never upload a pic already on the site .

So if im certain that the pic isnt on the site and try to upload it - why does it fails (aside for regarding prohibited content) and does the format matter (jpeg or png) .

My question was does the point of the search feature is to upload an already existing image directly from an another site -- and how to do so ?

And my internet is fine thanx .

No, like Jedi said that search feature is just to find out if the image is already on the site. There is no feature that makes it easier to import images from another site. Also, IQDB is not a feature of Gelbooru, it's a separate service run by entirely different people.

Like Jedi said, if it fails, it means that either we *do* already have the image (which is why you need to use IQDB to find out if we do - searching for it manually will not always work), or the image ends up being corrupted by the time we get it, which would mean an issue with your internet.

If it's failing, it may be possible that there was a transfer issue. Something may have corrupted during transfer, or the image contains data it should not. Iif you have issues uploading an image, upload a copy to imgur and link it here so I can take a look.

I actually found how to bypass the issue by changing the image format . Seems JPEG to PNG works so far - but i dont know if the opposite might too .

Im guessing the compressed data is likely being reconstructed during the conversion process - allowing it to be aknowledged by the upload system .
