How is "Gelbooru" pronounced? Is it jell-boo-roo or with a hard "g" like gell-boo-roo?

Hard G. It's a portmanteau of Geltas and Danbooru. Geltas was the original creator of this site.

I'm still pronouncing it Jelbooru and there is literally nothing you can do to stop me.

I was going to make a joke how you'd pronounce Google but then it felt like it would come across a bit anti-semitic. I had been pronouncing Geltas's name incorrectly for about a year before I spoke to him on Teamspeak and felt it required to clarify how to pronounce it, so I'm not at all shocked others had the same issue.

It's pronounced like the German word for yellow, "gelb". That's why the site has a blue motif.

If he wanted a hard G then his name should have been spelt Gelltas and the site should have been named Gellbooru.

But "gel" is pronounced "jel"...so that's how I'm gunna continue to say it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's the Lithuanian word for yellow so English rules don't apply.
