Various issues with browsing/updating tags/etc.
Posted on: 08/10/19 08:26AM

Hello, I'm a long-time user here. I amend tags quite frequently, I mark anything with bad anatomy, I try to flag any bad quality artwork, and if the rating is inaccurate (such as anything sexual marked as questionable or a revealing pic marked as safe), etc. In short, I try to make the content as accurately organized as best and as frequently as I can. However, I've experienced some issues, and I can't figure out what seems to be the cause. I make it a point to keep my ad-blocker disabled when browsing. I use Mozilla Firefox.

Issue #1: After clicking "Save changes" -- I'd say at least 50-70% of the time -- I'm taken to the Posts page, rather than stay on the current picture. The problem is when this happens, it doesn't update the changes I made, so I have to go back and do it again. Sometimes this happens two, even three times in a row, and it gets frustrating.

Issue #2 - Clicking on a tag will occasionally close the current tab.

Issue #3 - The search engine auto-completion doesn't always work. Sometimes it fails to detect a common word that I know is a tag, and sometimes it will autocomplete a tag for which there are zero results. I can't name any examples at the moment, but there you go.

Issue #4 - Blacklisting feature is a bit limited. I've had to reset/optimize it a couple of times over the years due to adding too many tags to it. However, I believe this is due to a character or perhaps file size limit, maybe? At the moment I think it just uses cookies, but I believe the better way to do it is to allow users to upload a plain txt file in case their list is too long.
To clarify why I have this issue, there are several types of content I don't want to see (such as furry, loli, Guro, anything with a male focus or disgusting-looking males, etc.) or specific IPs (Bayonetta, naruto, sonic the hedgehog, etc) and most importantly, individual artists whose monikers also include their pixiv serial numbers, which further makes tagging multiple artists populate my blacklist much faster.

Finally, I have one more issue, but this isn't an objective one with the site, only something I feel which may or may not be significant, so, feel free to ignore.
Issue #5 - No category bridging Questionable to Explicit. I believe there should be a middle ground. Sometimes a picture isn't quite "Explicit," while still being something more than just "Questionable."
For example, say there's a pic of a female character with a sexy & revealing dress, while not doing anything sexual, so this would be a Questionable piece.
However, let's say the same pic has another version where the girl has a horny expression on her face, her nipples are visibly erect under her dress, perhaps her pussy juice is also dripping down her thighs from under her skirt. There's still nothing visually "Explicit" going on (she's fully dressed after all), but it's blatantly suggestive, and the term "Questionable" doesn't quite cut it, I think.
So while this isn't a huge issue, I would like to suggest adding a fourth category for the sake of precision. I'm not sure what to call this category, though. Perhaps merely "Suggestive" or "Perverted."

Apologies for the long post. Thanks for reading.

This is intentional. You are saving tag edits too frequently. Normal users can only make one tag edit every 10 seconds.

This is a hard limit to the size of a cookie, and there's nothing we can do about it. Allowing users to upload a plain txt file isn't a viable solution. The blacklist feature is available to all users, including those who don't have accounts, and the only way to store a blacklist for users without an account is using cookies.

Finally, I have one more issue, but this isn't an objective one with the site, only something I feel which may or may not be significant, so, feel free to ignore.

No, that's definitely questionable. Questionable is the middle ground between safe and explicit. Anything that isn't safe and isn't explicit is questionable.

Issue 2: I also use Firefox and this doesn't happen to me. The most I get is a new tab that opens twice a day for a site advertisement.

Issue 3: I don't think we wrote this script. Lozer probably found something cheap/easy to throw in there after someone requested the feature. I'm guessing it's free and we get what we pay for. For most of this site's history we didn't have an auto-complete feature.

Issue 2 happens to me a lot a lot. I thought Adblock kills it when it tries to load an ad, and it's still a thing even though I don't use Adblock anymore (since Gelbooru ads aren't as obnoxious like they use to be [pop-up ads] and I want the site to exist). It also happens when you do next-page.

Didn't bother to investigate it really, cause I just press Ctrl-Shift-T and it's as good as new.

I experienced Issue 1 very often as well, but I always copy my tag edits to clipboard before submitting so it never bothered me. Although unintuitive it's intentional, I guess tweaking Gelbooru 2.0 to show a proper message is hard. Also your post seems to be B L A N K E D lol. This site is crazy. Edit: no longer blanked.
