That doesn't seem to be a factor in a lot of artists here. So what you are saying is you all need to go around deleting all non-Japanese artist postings?
To quote our Terms of Service:
Non-Japanese: Anything not drawn by a Japanese artist is not allowed unless given specific exception by the moderation team for quality! Photographs of cosplayers, figures, JAV models, or prominent figures in the industry are acceptable.
Note the part in bold. Basically, what this says is that all artwork by non-Japanese artists is disallowed unless and until a moderator decides to give it an exception due to quality. Yours did not receive an exception.
And by what measure do you use to gauge whether or not I am Japanese in the first place, merely because I happen reside in the States?
That's our biggest indicator. "Japanese artist" does not refer to race or ethnicity, but rather the culture you have lived the most of your life in. A white person with no Japanese ancestry at all would be considered Japanese for the purposes of the site if they were born, raised, and still live there, while a person born in America to both Japanese parents and who lived in America for their whole life would not. Unless we have some documented reason to believe that you were brought up in Japan and moved to America (or elsewhere) later in life, we will assume that the culture you grew up in is the same as the one you currently reside in.
And this fits a larger question. Am I then not allowed to post my own art up here, even though your site has made use of my art in the past and in fact shared it / mirrored it elsewhere? Should I look to post elsewhere for my overall projects as an artist?
There is no rule against posting your own artwork, but it's discouraged, even if you were Japanese. The reason being that Gelbooru is intended to be a curated gallery of high-quality artwork rather than a place for someone to post their own artwork. You won't get in trouble for posting your own artwork, but self-posted artwork is judged with much more scrutiny than artwork posted by a third party. The reason for this is that many artists aren't very good judges of the quality of their work, but if an unrelated third-party feels that a piece of art is good enough to share, it's a lot more likely to be high-quality.
