This isn't a request to restore an image, but it's semi-related.
If an image is purged from the site for whatever reason, and then gets uploaded at a later point to Danbooru, what happens then? Does the image get transferred still?

If it is exactly the same file then no. We have a dupe detector that will prevent duplicate files from being uploaded to Gelbooru if they are 100% the same file.
If it has been modified or compressed in any way from the one that was purged from our server then it may still show up here. Basically our dupe detector looks to see if we have a file with the same MD5 hash and blocks the upload if we do.

But everything is a different color because the color depth has been so compressed. The artifacts aren't helping either.
I went and deleted the other compressed dupe too.

I wouldn't have deleted that myself. It's not bad (for a gif) and it's not off-topic.
Technically, anything not made by a Japanese artist is not allowed unless given exception by the staff for quality. The others were either given exception or simply haven't been reviewed by the staff.

Doujin aren't allowed on gelbooru at all.
Any you see on the site simply haven't been seen by moderators yet. Our mod team is entirely composed of volunteers, so we can't see everything that ends up on the site.
