of the image posted by danbooru except that the image is exactly the same. WTF

They are not exactly the same. The post that was deleted had compression artifacts and the one we kept did not. We always keep the higher-quality image.

Since it's a doujin cover we may kill the other too anyway.

Your version is 600x756 with some very light, but definitely still there, JPEG compression artifacting.

AngryZapdos' version is 1271x1600, while at the same time very crisp and clean.

We always keep the highest-quality version of an image and delete all lower-quality versions. Even if you uploaded first, since AngryZapdos' version is objectively better, it would have been kept whether it was him that deleted yours or another moderator.

By the way, from the resolution and compression, it looks like your upload was a Pixiv sample. You should avoid uploading the sample, since someone else will upload the full-size version eventually and your version will be deleted.

Multi-page comics are not allowed. If they are not removed it's because we haven't seen them yet. Four-panel comics and single-page comics are fine.

Okay so, I don't understand. The original was deleted because they were "not a Japanese artist" (there's thousands of artists on here who aren't Japanese), and the original is no longer present, so why disallow it exactly? It was previously on the site but isn't currently, what's the stop it being on here again?

Our Terms of Service says "Non-Japanese: Anything not drawn by a Japanese artist is not allowed unless given specific exception by the moderation team for quality!"

This is a privetly owned server and this is what the owner wants. Duplicates are not allowed either.

It's just so unbelievably arbitrary and racist. By these rules, a person with some Japanese heritage can draw something of truly awful quality in western style that barely even qualifies as a rough sketch and it's allowed, but somebody else can draw great pictures in Japanese style with a Japanese name and it gets deleted as they lack Japanese blood. It's not even anywhere near consistent, as some pictures by an artist get allowed but other similar ones by the same artist get removed because they're "not a Japanese artist".

It is just so bizarre, it feels like a completely made up reason as your nationality has zero impact on your drawing style or quality. You might as well implement a rule saying "uploader did not eat a hot dog last Wednesday" and then remove any pic you like with that reason, the only difference being then that wouldn't be racially motivated.

Basically also nope. We basically give exception to anything that's well-drawn. In this case, the image in question was deleted before the clause allowing exceptions was added to the artist rule. We have no way of searching for deleted images to find the deleted posts from before that change to restore them. I don't think that particular image would have been deleted if the exception clause were there back then. On the other hand, I'm not going to restore it unless a consensus agrees it should be restored.



The rule is applied on an image-by-image basis, not to the artist as a whole. Art quality and style can vary from piece to piece.
