Automatic comment flagging or comment stalker?
Posted on: 06/17/23 10:28AM

I've noticed quite a few of my comments get flagged despite not remotely violating any of the commenting rules. Sometimes it happens days later, sometimes it happens before I can even edits tags as needed, but I just now witnessed it happening INSTANTLY as far as I can tell.
My first comment on gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=8641429 was flagged instantly and I'm half surprised my follow-up one wasn't.
Can anyone confirm if that's a feature of the site or if it was a fellow user who has something against me and is just being a cocksucker about it.? And if it was automated then what could I have possibly done wrong? Also if there's some good reason it was auto-flagged then why not just have the system not accept the post rather than adding to a mod's workload.

And here's another one where it just happened before I could even fix the rating, with another guy complaining about the same problem: gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=8675152
Also my second comment got flagged while I was editing that last pic.

Hmmmm, do you think you've could've pissed someone off? It's a possibility. It could be an auto mod feature being tested out but I'm not sure what on your comment was flag-worthy.

A mod should be able to disclose whether or not a user flagged it or it was the result of a new automod feature.

Oh I KNOW I've said some things that pissed people off. IIRC one trans comic pic recently got all its comments nuked (and rightly so) including the one where I called out the transphobic assholes.
But this has been happening for at least a week before that shitshow and there's more that doesn't make sense. The weirdest thing is how inconsistent the guy or guys are. Like I make comments around the same time that go completely unreported, which is confusing because you'd expect someone with a bone to pick with me would flag every comment of mine they see. Like this one here (gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=7858174) has went unmolested for 2 days.
And on top of that, it's not just me getting bogus reports on comments. I know 2 other people it's happened to and those are just the ones who noticed and bothered to say something about it. And finally, there's no apparent pattern to what is flagged. All I've determined is that loli and incest pics are more likely to get false reports but even those are inconsistent in how many get flagged.
This just doesn't make any sense unless the guy is a genuine nutjob off his meds. Or unless there's some secret unwritten list of commenting rules that's being enforced. /shrug
I just hope the mod reviewing those reports actually bothers to read them rather than just delete and move on. I'm pretty sure I've had perfectly valid "legal" comments deleted before but it'd be a pain in the ass to check. If this kind of abuse is a long-term problem then suddenly it makes sense why we're not able to see a user's comment history.

edit: here's another i chanced across because I wanted to see my favorite RL femboy again:
gelbooru.com/index.php?pa...346&tags=velvetchann+
This one at least conceivably might violate the rules regarding "horny posting" but it's far from what I'd call a horny post. It's well written, funny IMO, and my comment has far more substance to it than something like "hurr durr i wanna cum in his boipussy." The only other thing to maybe complain about it the link to his patreon crap but I don't see anything in the rules about linking to outside sites and I've seen other people post Kemono links here before. So if a mod does interpret this one as against some rules I hope they bother to explain what the problem was so I can repost it later.
Commenting here feels a bit like russian roulette since I never know what's going to be flagged or if a mod will care enough to correctly deal with it instead of just deleting without a thought.

It's both, bot and angry comment flagger.

There are too many illegal, unwanted, RP and just plain cringe comments that have "I wish" in them so these get auto-flagged for review. There are other reasons comments get auto-flagged but I don't run the bot and don't know them all.

Aaaaaand then you have the busybodies. Those who piss off the mods with bad flagging will get warnings. Ignored warnings may result in bans.

A flagged comment doesn't mean you've broken the rules. Come to think of it, a deleted comment may not have broken the rules as we sometimes purge entire posts of arguments or responses to deleted comments.

If you have been breaking the commenting guidelines then you should get a mod notice telling you so. If you haven't been told why a comment was flagged or deleted then you might not have done anything wrong.

Edit: Forgot, we don't really give notices for comment violators like we use to. If you have too many deleted comments then you lose your commenting privileges automatically. It's got to be a pretty bad posted-comment-to-deleted-comment ratio for that to happen though.

Some words of advice:

1. That comment you left on the femboy cosplayer was quite cringe. Sorry, not sorry. Ironically, leaving a short "hurr durr I'd cum in his b-u-s-s-y" comment is better and less cringe than writing a whole paragraph on what you want to do to him. People don't even do that with females around here, and women make up the vast majority of the live action posts on gelbooru. Whenever I see a hot curvy woman on here, I don't feel the need to make a lengthy comment on what I'd like to do to her. I'd only leave a short comment if I felt it was clever enough.

2. Don't post kemono party links. Considering that it's a site that resposts paid content for free, and that a few artists will sometimes DMCA content on here, mods probably won't like them being posted. Plus links generally aren't accepted unless they're from ultra safe websites like Youtube or Twitter.

3. As jedi1357 said, flagging and comment deletion isn't a big deal. It's only when a mod approaches you stop with a warning that it'll become a problem for you if you continue disobeying the warning that was given.

Oh, btw the word "b u s s y" makes the entire screen turn white for some reason.

Might want to fix that, mods.

It's not a code word for anything bad, it's pretty much a meme these days, so there's no reason for it to be disallowed.

Knowing how Jerl feels about such words it's probably working as intended.

I take it that Jerl doesn't like those kind of words?
