Franchise's going to shit.
Gameplay behind paywalls.
Microtranslations/lootboxes/gacha games.
Walking simulators and visual novels.
Anti-modding/fanworks.
Anti-consumerism.
Getting into something where they don't belong to. (Sony's politics).
Piracy is getting normalized.
Developers getting insuferable.
Gaming "Journalists" is more pathetic as ever.
Fanboys are a complete joke.

It's rotting itself to the point when we get another video game crash? No matter how much you say it won't happen or which country is better at games.

Don't forget you don't really own the games you purchased so if a company decides to delete your game archive whether because you violated their rules that constantly changes or because they can't compete with their old games they made because they are better.

If that's the case then they don't really own your money and piracy isn't stealing.

I agree with nearly everything that was said, but "it's rotting itself into another video game crash" is entirely incorrect.

Video games are more popular than ever. More and more people in the world are buying and playing video games. It is the only entertainment industry as of now that's steadily rising instead of declining or having ups and downs. It's the opposite of the movie industry, where several film franchises are doing their lowest in several years.

I do think there will eventually be a sharp decline period because of the rising costs to make these games and the rising prices, but it's too early for that period and I don't think it'll lead to another major "crash".

I am old so I lack the credibility to give accurate critique. For me, all the older games are the best, but I know a lot of that is nostalgia.

With that said, it seems like graphics are all that matter now, some games are just like movies because they actually remove the player from controlling anything for extended periods of time, and finally, boy has competitive play been dumbed down. Anyone can get good at something now. Anyway, that’s what I’m able to see, with my limited knowledge.

The gaming industry dead means no games at all. Including Azur Lane.

It's diseased, and probably can't be "fixed" anytime soon, but it can surely improve. Baldur's Gate 3 bucked a lot of the more predatory transactional trends, made a lot big publishers nervous because they gave a giant game with just one single purchase, and got GOTY.

I think that's what we need more of. Progress.

Bear sex and polyamory.

Much progress. Such an industry saver.
