Advertising question

I have a question for you all. Would you rather have one full page ad appear every 12 hours, or have those banner ads at the top and bottom of the site with one full page ad every 24 hours? Explain your position. Even if you block ads, your opinion still matters.

I would prefer a single full page every 12 hours.

I don't block ads. I think if they don't bother to much it doesn't matter. Either banner or fullpage is ok.

But I have something to say. I don't know if it has appeared on gelbooru but I have some bad experiences with ads. If you open a lot of pictures one after another or at the same time and the company who hosts the banner has a slow connection the banner ad kan slow down the loading process of the full page. You don't have this problem with fullpage ads.

I would'nt mind a fullpage add even if it were every hour but if a banner slows down the entire page and I have to wait 1-2 seconds more for every page it makes a lot of time when I browse 1,000 pics every evening. ^^

Well, the banners are loaded through IFRAMES so that shouldn't be happening. What is more likely is that our database is experience locking causing every page to load a bit slower than normal.

nsfw banners on sfw pic pages = bad :(

I don't mind the full page ones much, but sometimes it'll glitch or something and I get it on every single tab I open (using opera 9.24). Doesn't affect load times significantly, but I have to hit the close button on every tab.

Whatever you do just for the love of god please never host any ads from smileycentral.com :(

never full page ads, ever. put banners on the top, bottom, and sides if you have to. full page ads just piss me off and I close the window before the ad finishes loading.

I would think that adding one more banner would generate more revenue than a full page ad that only ever results in people clicking the button to bypass it, or closing the window instinctively thinking it's just a popup.

This will be fixed in the next version. No more tedious caching problems. OMG NO WAI! Also, just click and wait for one ad to appear before you start mass clicking. It doesn't set the cookie for a short period. :(

We apparently get paid even if you click skip. The current banners we had in rotation do not make nearly as much as a single intermission ad from blacklabelads. I think we can manage with just one intermission ad per day and break even.

I would be fine with a fullpage ad every 12 hours, or more often even, I wouldn't mind, but I hate banner ads, it's a huge turnoff when it comes to a site.
