need help with the sort:random command!
Posted on: 03/06/24 10:13AM

I would really like to sort:random my results on most of my saved searches. But when I do the command works as intended for only a few items 6~12 approx. Images are randomly sorted and are viewable by clicking "next".

What should I provide to an admin or someone who can help me see why sort:random, randomly stop returns the same image after a while. I am using Firefox on my phone and Opera GX on my computer.

This is a known issue.

As updates are made to the index, the previous sorting information is lost and new ones are generated. Our site is updated frequently so those results are only static for a short period before it randomizes again.

just tried to do the same thing, pressing next while on sort:random and there seems to be a weird problem, at some point it no longer progresses and just reloads the same page, you can press previous and find a different image but pressing next returns you to that same image it was stuck with

what a weird error

I wish this gets fixed soon
I would also love if there was an option like in konachan where you can click "Random" and it'll give you a random post, give it a shortcut key and we'll be golden

We've had a random button for over 15 years

Thank you for the response! i forgot it was there since i don't usually search at that tab for stuff like this lol.
It is random, but its not exactly what we're looking for, the main focus is on having a way to cicle through random images *whithin* our searched tags by pressing a key.
Hope this gets resolved since this is my favorite booru and ever since i got better at using the search bar i've been having tons of fun (づ ᴗ _ᴗ)づ♡

After using sort:random you can also put number between 0 & 10000 which seeds the results like creating a Minecraft world to get the same one. (e.g. sort:random:10) Still the same issue for when the database changes, but maybe this'll help with search persistence.
