Danbooru uploads using the Pixiv direct links for sources
Posted on: 03/26/24 01:58AM

Recently the Danbooru uploads has been using direct image links (Bad_Link) for images sourced from Pixiv, making them useless to the general public, since if you click on them they just give you a 404 error. Will this ever be rectified?

well,it is Danbooru, and this place is just a copy-paste to whatever Dan uploads,so there's nothing much we can do about it.

I checked the same image which exist in both danbooru and gelbooru and danbooru sourced the pixiv page while the imported post in gelbooru here sourced the image direct link that lead to 403 unless you open the image from pixiv.

Could be the bot were referenced to the wrong link? Because danbooru has this hyperlinked "»" symbol beside the source link that does indeed links to the direct image that gives you 403.

Danbooru stores the direct image link in their database, and that's what their API reports. They convert the direct image link into a gallery link on the fly when you load a post page.

Our mechanism for doing the same thing ran into issues and has been turned off. For the time being, you can click the "Similar" link at the bottom of the sidebar to find the Pixiv gallery via SauceNAO.

Once your mechanism for pixiv links gets fixed, will the source links here also get fixed by a mass-edit/bot, or is it up to users on this site to track down and fix the pixiv links even after the mechanism gets fixed?

When it gets fixed, there will be no need for a mass edit. The link is converted into a gallery link on the post page on the fly, just like on Danbooru.

Personally, I think we are going to stick with the bad links. Because, it won't matter eventually at the rate they are cutting off artists abilities to draw what they want.

I seriously hope that is a joke. I understand being frustrated at websites constantly censoring artists, but I use Gelbooru to find these artists' pixiv accounts since I can't read or type in Japanese. If they're being censored out of the internet, that's all the more reason to find them, to give their work better exposure before anything is cut off.

I really don't see any good reason to keep the pixiv links broken, and the wave of artists being cut out adds more urgency instead of less as you're implying. I'm obviously not expecting an instant fix to the pixiv links on Gelbooru, but I'd like for those links to be fixed at some point in the near future please, thank you.
