I've been seeing that tag a lot lately, yet I couldn't figure out what that means o_O ... does anyone know ?

Touhou (東方) can be accurately described here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touhou_Project

It is a 弾幕 (bullet hell) style game en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot_%27em_up#Bullet_hell

The literal meaning, I think is (noun) eastern direction; the Orient.

Hmm ...so this is somehow a useless tag, isn't it ?
I mean, since this imageboard is basically about japan-related culture (and maybe more specifically, manga / anime stuff) ?

Uhh. That's exactly like saying that tagging a picture of Ayanami Rei with "neon_genesis_evangelion" is useless, since this imageboard is basically about japan-related culture.

The tag refers to the Touhou game/s, not the literal meaning said above. >_>

I seriously doubt the (currently) 38590 results for that tag to be related to that game...

As one that has been checking the results of searching the Touhou tag daily, I'd say it's quite accurate. I have half that much on my computer, I just stopped saving them since I can always come back here later to find a certain pic.

There was a time when you could click the "posts" link at top and not be able to find any single page without a touhou-related pic.
