Tails Adventure and Skypatrol is one of the Sonic spinoffs of all time. It's really good, and not just saying because he's my fav.

Sonic had a lot of concept art and story to get a idea to what Sonic is going to be.
Once he was a dog, a human, a chicken, Eggman was the protagonist at one point.
He was in a nightmare world or it was all a fairy tale from a lady to his husband.

There was a poll to which Sonic will be, a rabbit, a armadillo or a hedgehog. In public or at Sonic Team?
Either way, the hedgehog won and rest is history.

Funnily enough, she is on the same league as Sally Acorn, what I mean by that, is she wasn't a video game character to begin with.
