Title. Am I correct in that the level is what is displayed in your achievements section? I heard leveling up can allow you to bypass captchas when tagging and stuff.

Look at the bottom of the screen on your profile, and nobody will tell you.

According to this, only comments go towards your level. Not sure why the wiki is being so secretive about it when the trac is also public. You'd think that quality uploads and tagging would count for something since that's the point of the site, but I guess not.

Oh what? Thanks so much for this. I was pretty confused since I'd seen users with 1000s of tag edits, note edits, and forum posts still at level 0.

That seems quite strange to me. I personally don't feel too inclined towards writing comments. I would rather contribute in other ways.

I think it's both. Websites always want to fight against bots.

The trac is much more obscure.

If the purpose of the levelling system is to keep bots from spamming, I completely understand. I just thought there should be more ways to level through other forms of contribution.
