Could the #tags-search input on the main page have the "autofocus" attribute added?
You won't have to click/tab to it to start typing. So far I've used a userscript to focus the element.

Well what's the issue if your userscript works for you? Personally I'd use a css override rather than a userscript but that's up to your preference.
To most people, this is probably not a issue, so I don't think they'll be making that change.

It's not an "issue", it's just an UX improvement that comes at a cost of 9 bytes total..
