Your Favorite Shows
Posted on: 03/06/25 09:55PM

On this thread you guys get to talk about your favorite shows, shows that you enjoy and love. Animes, Western animation, live-action shows, etc. You can gush as much as you want about these shows and why you like them.

Also, and this is important: Fighting will NOT be allowed on this thread.
I made this thread in order to make a thread free of negativity. Do not start fights with users just because they like a show you dislike. This thread is not about "shows I like and shows I hate" or "my show is better than yours", it is ONLY about shows you like. If a user happens to like a show you dislike, let them be.
If someone on this thread says something like "My favorite show is Steven Universe" DO NOT respond their comment with "You like that garbage show?". Likewise, do not engage with users that are clearly trying to start a fight.
So, no fights and do not be an asshole on this thread.
Got it? All right.

There's plenty of shows I wanna guh about, both japanese and western. Let's start with my favorite anime and manga: ONE PIECE
This series is a masterpiece and I could go on and on about what I love about this series. From its characters, the world, the worldbuilding, the story arcs, the art, the comedy, the heartfelt moments, the fights, etc. Truth be told, it's not easy to handle comedy and drama so well, One Piece is simultaneously one of the funniest anime I've seen, making me die from laughter many times, and a series that made me cry multiple times. You can tell that the author loves this world just as much as the readers and audience with how much care he puts on even the tiniest of details.
The characters are wonderful, from the lovable main cast (love every single member of the Straw Hats), the dastardly villains (Doflamingo will always be the goat), and the HUGE cast of characters that fill the One Piece world.
I'd continue, but I fear I might end up making an overly long post. To make things short, I love One Piece.

I'll make some other posts where I talk about more shows I love, like Fullmetal Alchemist, Gravity Falls, The Owl House, Avatar The Last Airbender, The Clone Wars, etc.

For now, it's your turn. What shows you love?

You made this thread because I called you out from this:
You mean Steven in Future? When he snapped after all the shit he went through? Yeah, what an asshole :/

When I stated why, and even said it's fine to like the show, even I did.
If you made this thread as a coping mechanism over saying a opinion, then it's really pathetic.

Anyway, I like Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and King of Queens. One of those shows that has a spot on my heart.

My favorite tv show is The Wire followed by Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Better Call Saul and Band Of Brothers. The Wire is not only a great crime drama about the war on drugs with great dialogue and cool characters "You aim for the king, you best not miss" but makes powerful statements about society in general. It's more of a televised novel than a tv show as pretentious as it may sound, it fits that description to a t

You're not my dad! I'll be whatever I wanna do!

Anyways...

Babylon 5
Yes, even season 5, even though it was actually bad in a few spots. And characters. But it was never enough to actually make me skip it. It's a shame that so many of the actors are dead, so we can never have a revival or a reunion special/movie/whatever. Oh well, guess we'll meet them all go, beyond the rim...

Futurama
The original run, anyway. Every revival is the show going further up its own ass with terrible episodes. Seriously, the original run I can, and will, watch every episode. There's not a single one that I'll skip. But the revivals? Yeah, I'll be skipping episodes.

Farscape
Oh lordy, I adore this series. The puppets, the practical effects, the humor, the characters, the worldbuilding, everything. Kinda rough finale movie, but at least it got a finale years after the fact.

Stargate SG-1
Up through season 8, anyway. Given my love of Farscape, you'd think I'd be all over the last seasons because Ben Browder and Claudia Black are in there, but... no. It's not them, mind you, it's just the direction the show goes in. Which is leaning hard on Arthurian mythos (well, the more modern iteration, not the actual original) and brings in the Ori as bad guys. Who are basically actual gods, rather than the false gods that the Goa'uld pretended to be. It was pretty absurd that humanity finally reached a point where they could go toe to toe with a bunch of parasites, only to then rise up enough to be able to fight against the power of gods with technology millions of years in advance of their own.

Mystery Science Theater 3000
Season 2-10, anyway. KMTA and season 1 are way too rough around the edges, and the whole approach of doing everything off the cuff just led to a lot of dead air, stumbling over one another and lots of stuttering. But when the show started firing on all cylinders, lord have mercy, it was one of the best comedy shows on Earth. Speaking of comedy...

The Kids in the Hall
An amazing comedy sketch show that's full of cross dressing. I don't hold that against it, though. The best thing to come out of Canada, outside of...

LEXX
You take Star Trek, but instead of looking for a bunch of aliens, they're all just humans, and instead of seeking them out for peaceful coexistence, it's looking for sex and blowing up planets. You have an idiot who actually has the best character arc in the show, a snide robot head, an undead assassin who waxes poetic and a love slave that is so horny that she would indeed commit necrophilia if only the dead man still had a penis. Also the ship is a giant wingless dragonfly that is as smart as a dog and talks. What's not to love?

s-CRY-ed
More power! And more! And more! SHINE BRIGHTER! Its OP song, Reckless Fire, is fucking amazing. The manga is bizarre, though. Like, it gets really sexual (one character who heals another does it by riding his cock) and it goes in just strange directions.

Trigun
One of those few anime that I think is better dubbed than it was in the original language. It's the old west, but in space, but without spaceships like Firefly. Also there are mutants. The manga is worth reading, because it has a much more fulfilling ending.

Cowboy Bebop
Do I really need to say anything about this gem? Also better dubbed than in Japanese. Amazing soundtrack, amazing world, amazing characters, an ending that'll make you cry. Also its movie is pretty decent.

oh yeah I forgot MST3K www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFHlJ2voJHY

I intentionally left out anime to not seem so redundant (like yeah we're on this site of course we love anime) but yeah Cowboy Bebop would definitely be in my top 10 tv shows for sure. It's not just Bebop and Trigun but i've noticed alot of western influenced anime I tend to like better dubbed. Black Lagoon, Panty and Stocking, Baccano, Hellsing Ultimate, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Samurai Champloo, Big O

I have way too many, I'll just list a few of them (as they come to my mind), getting into explanations will take too long... I think I've listed most of my favourite anime before tho so I'll keep that to a minimum (I think). I know some of my favourite things aren't either critically acclaimed, successful, or both, but I don't care, some of these things are from my childhood and I still love them, faults or no faults.

Ghost in the Shell SAC, Sailor Moon (DiC dub), Fist of the North Star, Kenichi, Prison School (both anime & live action), Escaflowne, Azumanga Daioh, Cromartie High School, Ergo Proxy, Arjuna, Record of Lodoss War, Big O, Queen's Blade, Serial Experiments Lain, You're Under Arrest, Food Wars, Noir, .hack//sign, Spongebob Squarepants, The Simpsons, Futurama, ReBoot, Shadow Raiders, The Legend of Calamity Jane, Lupin III (any of it, all of it), Continuum, Person of Interest, Relic Hunter, Tamas/Darkness (1988), Batman the Animated Series, X-men, The Adventures of Tintin, Seinfeld, Xena, Nighthood, Cybersix, Star Trek TNG and Voyager, Animaniacs, Nanalan, Paranoia Agent, Please Save My Earth, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Dexter's Laboratory, Daria, Radio Active (English Canadian version), Mr. Bean, Sleepy Hollow, Marvel's Agents of Shield, The X-files, Twin Peaks, The Powerpuff Girls, The Muppet Show, Baywatch, The Nature of Things, Cosmos, Ren & Stimpy, Photon, Office-Office, Onegai Teacher, Monster Rancher

Voyager

Another man of culture, I see.

I really cannot hate Voyager. I can hate certain episodes of it (Threshold is the easiest to name, but there's tripe like Ex Post Facto), or at least certain parts of episodes (Janeway's holonovel, FUCKING FAIR HAVEN). Voyager did some bad things to the franchise and the lore (lookin' at you, Borg) but its worst crime, so to speak, was that it ran along DS9, but didn't have its level of commitment to continuity and ramifications.

Ghost in the Shell SAC, Lupin III (any of it, all of it), Star Trek TNG and Voyager,

Nice, Ghost In The Shell had such a big impact on me as a teenager. Sparked my obsession with Cyberpunk and tough chicks who can kick my ass. I also love Lupin The Third being a huge Cowboy Bebop fan. I'm curious as to what your thoughts on A Woman Called Fujiko Mine are. Personally it's one of my go to examples when I think underrated anime but I understand that it's pretty divisive among Lupin fans and anime watchers in general, it's definitely not for everyone. I haven't seen Voyager in a long time but I love TNG.
