Is it normal to not know what circumscion is until really late?

I honestly did NOT know what circumcision was for a really long time. I used to see uncircumcised penises in porn but thought they were just weird looking penises that certain people were born with. Then one day, I learned that, yes, people get the skin around their penises removed at birth.
Thing is though, I didn't even learn this until I was an adult, so it kind of blew my mind. So is that pretty normal, or am I just the odd one out?
How? Even if you don't hear about it in your personal life (which could happen, if nobody around you does it, why would you hear about it?), didn't you learn about it in school or something? I'd think that it comes up at least in history and biology. It did in my education.

I think it's possible I could've just ignored it wholesale, but all I know is that I didn't realize what it meant, until I was an adult. I thought penises just could naturally look that way at birth.
