Should meme references be tagged with the meme source's copyright?

I've seen a few images tagged with a series when no characters from that series appear, but the image clearly references a meme originating from that series.

Are these correct?

Good question. I'll ask the mods.

Realistically speaking, our policy on this will just be whatever Danbooru's policy is. I've asked in Danbooru's Discord server, and I'll update this thread when I get an answer.

The answer is: it depends.

Take yamcha_pose_(meme), for example - something like post #12063790 that clearly references the original moment in Dragon Ball should absolutely be tagged with dragon_ball. Meanwhile, something like post #11088948 where the reference is just a background joke should probably not be tagged as such.
