Yeah,as the title says current youtube app in android is really bad than the browser ones. From the strict censorship, deleting videos from your liked folder and even shitty ads algorithms.I hate it when i watch a video and suddenly be interrupted by ads in the middle of watching a content.

I hate that 60fps isn't optional.

If the video has it as an option, then it forces you to use it on 720p resolution or higher.
Sometimes I don't want a tab using up a crap ton of data when normal 1080 or 720 would be fine.

If it's just background music/audio, then I don't want 60fps to be on.
Or maybe the Internet is acting weird, and it can't handle 1080p 60fps but can handle 1080p fine.

They should have normal 720p and 1080p as an option, even if the video has 60fps.
480p isn't really an option on TV, it's just barely passable on tablet.

Here's a trick alot of you probably know already:

On the TV version of the app (smart tv, firestick, game consoles, ect.) you can skip ads almost instantly by backing out of the video and then clicking on the video again until it stops trying to give you an ad.

If you're starting the video from a home page or user page:
It might try to give you an ad multiple times. Just keep backing out of the video and clicking on it again until it stops trying to give you ads. Congratulations, ad skipped.

If you're in the middle of a video and it gives you an ad:
Back out of the video/ad, go to history, and then click on the video again. This usually works instantly, the video will just start again without having to fight ads like the first example.

If you're clicking on a "related" video:
You're kinda screwed, you have to watch the first ad or risk losing the video and having to find it again.
But once you get it started you can use the second trick to skip any midroll ads.

Experience may vary depending on how new/old your device is, and what version of the app it uses.
And yeah it's a pain in the ass to stop what you're doing and navigate the menu, but it's better than sitting through some manipulative ad for 30 seconds.

i don't even use YouTube any more, at least not to actually watch videos.

I download videos onto my computer or phone usually, but recently I found this site that lets you watch YouTube videos without being tracked by the robot funbusters (apparently) AND it also skips ads, apparently.

Probably can't use it on the TV, but on your computer or tablet, hell yeah.

Also, if you don't know by now, I also have been uploading some stuff onto IA since at least August.

The stuff that has stayed are: two different TV edit playlist (of the "X show on Y channel" variety): one is my stuff, the other is stuff done by two other people whose work in this field I'm particularly fond of, as well as the anime/tokusatsu OPED playlist, and a recording of half an episode of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends on Boomerang from 2021 (I was on a Foster's Home fixation phase in Spring of that year).

I'd send you the link to the TV rec list (the ones I did, anyway) but I don't wanna derail the thread into promotion of my work.
