She had to be something before Arthas killed her and brought her back from the dead, no? But regardless, she wasn't a night elf,
she's a high/blood elf.

Sylvanas Windrunner's not a night elf, she was a High/Blood elf until Arthas killed her and bring her to life when he destroyed the source of mana from the high elves with the frostmourne.

in cata there are a bunch of rangers that look similar to Sylvanas all over UC and other areas controlled by her
